The Needles are situated at the far western tip of the Island, one of the most visited places on the Isle Of Wight , Set amongst the famous coloured sands of Alum Bay .
These can be a spectacular sight as the sun picks out the multi coloured sands in the cliff face.
The Needles got its name from a conical rock, 120 feet high, known as " Lot's Wife" which fell into the sea, in 1764.
You can see today exactly where this rock once stood as the huge gap in between the rocks cannot be missed.

Horizontally flat, striated sea
A lighthouse, red banded, a bobbin,
Centred before grey needles of rock.
White cliff face, caught by the pulsating sun,
Angled intermittent warning.
Sea mist shrouds the land beyond
